The year 2015 was a turning point for me in many ways. It gave me a lot of experience and opened my eyes. I had to graduate from high school (despite my inability to learn) and I also saw that something I loved and did since I was a kid – ice hockey – was coming to an end. I didn’t admit it, but I was under a lot of psychological pressure.
On the day of my graduation, I had a lot of diarrhea and pain since the morning. This continued for a few days until it got to the stage where I had a lot of blood in my stool and was going to the toilet up to 10 times a day. By then I knew something was wrong and immediately contacted the doctor. It took him longer to figure out exactly what was wrong with me. When several pills didn’t work, he sent me for a colonoscopy (colon exam). There they figured out that most of my colon was affected by inflammation and was bleeding quite a bit. The exact diagnosis was: ULCEROSAL COLITIS (a chronic disease that cannot be completely cured). Many things changed in my life that morning, the disease was limiting me greatly. I had to take all sorts of unpleasant pills every day, and it took several months for my gut to settle down again for a short while. Especially with the return of autumn, my gut started bleeding again and I had to put it out with quite strong corticosteroids. I had been like this for about 2 and a half years when the worst came and I ended up in hospital. I was really scared then, I was at my lowest.
